Kurztext / Annotation
This book broadens the knowledge of tribology. This book is evolved out of current research trends on tribological performance of systems related to nano tribology, rheology, engines, polymer brushes, composite materials, erosive wear and lubrication. The book deals with enhancing the ideas on tribological properties, the different types of wear phenomenon and lubrication enhancement. Further, the tribological performance of systems, whether nano, micro or macro-scale, depends upon a large number of external parameters and important among them are temperature, contact pressure and relative speed. Thus, the book focus on the theoretical aspects to industrial applications of tribology.

Dr. Jitendra Kumar Katiyar is a Research Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, SRM Institute of Science and Technology (Former SRM University). He is associated with Tribology and Surface Interaction Research laboratory which is an advanced research lab dedicated to the promotion, development, and understanding of tribology in different application such as bearing, lubrication and polymer composites. He obtained his Ph.D., from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur in 2017. He has completed his masters from the same institution in 2010. He obtained his bachelor of technology from UPTU Lucknow with Honors in 2007. He has several life professional memberships such as Tribology Society of India, Malaysian Society of Tribology, and The Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) etc. He has been invited for expert lecture from various institutes. He has published 20+ journal papers in reputed journals and has published/attended 25+ international/national conferences. He has also published more than dozen book chapters in CRC press, Springer and Elsevier. He has published one booktitled 'Automotive Tribology' in Springer, Singapore. He has also published Engineering Thermodynamics in Khanna Publication, New Delhi national level book for undergraduate. He is active reviewer in Tribology International, Wear, colloids and Interface Communications, Friction, Material Research Express, Defence Technology, Journal of Materials Research and Technology and Inderscience Journals etc. He received the grant from various government organizations such as MHRD, SERB etc. He has conducted several events related to tribology such as Industrial Tribology, Tribology in Materials and manufacturing.

Dr. Ramkumar Penchaliah is currently working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering in IIT Madras. Prior to coming to IIT Madras, he was an Associate Professor at SSN College of Engineering, Chennai. Dr. Ramkumar received his B.E in Mechanical Engineering from College of Engineering, Guindy, Anna University and his M.Tech (Industrial Tribology) from IIT Madras. He obtained his Ph.D. (2003-07) from University of Southampton with specialisation of Engine Tribology, UK and did his post-doctoral fellowship in University of Leicester (2009-10), UK for developing high speed Cam-Tappet tribometer Rig. He has 14 years research experience in the field of tribology and engine tribology. He won the best presentation award for his PhD from IMechE, London, UK in 2005. His primary research interests are in the field of tribology, engine tribology, gearbox design, wind turbine gearbox bearing failures, biotribology, multilayer coatings, ionic fluids, wear modelling and developing new composite materials for brake applications. He has published more than 20 papers in peer reviewed journals and 40 international conference proceedings including 1 patent as well. As sole PI, he has received two research grants with total worth of US $1.4M, while as Co-PI US $ 14M from DST.
